Zantac, Zantac Double Strength
ranitidine (as ranitidine hydrochloride) - OTC
ZANTAC PROVIDES LONG-LASTING HEARTBURN RELIEF THAT STARTS TO WORK IN AS LITTLE AS 30 MINUTES1,2
Heartburn happens when acid from the stomach rises into the oesophagus (the tube that connects your throat and your stomach). Zantac and Zantac Double Strength contain ranitidine (as hydrochloride), which works by targeting the acid at its source. It blocks the H2 receptors in the gastric parietal cells, which are the cells in your stomach that make acid. Blocking these receptors reduces the amount of acid in the stomach, so less can acid rise up to burn.
Zantac can be purchased without a prescription and is available in two strengths.
